Type of the workshop: National workshop

The workshop in brief:
The 1st National Symposium on the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics: From Beginning to Cryptography hold on May 18, 2023. The Symposium focused on Quantum mechanics which is the branch of physics relating to the very small. It results in what may appear to be some very strange conclusions about the physical world. At the scale of atoms and electrons, many of the equations of classical mechanics, which describe how things move at everyday sizes and speeds, cease to be useful. In classical mechanics, objects exist in a specific place at a specific time. However, in quantum mechanics, objects instead exist in a cloud of probability; they have a certain chance of being at point A, another chance of being at point B and so on. The objectives can be stated as followings:
1- Introduce a platform in the foundations of quantum mechanics for bachelor’s degree.
2- Familiarize the audience with the behaviors of matter and the activities happening inside of atoms.
3- Describe how atomic particles exist and interact with each other. The Symposium was organized by the Department of Physics Education, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, Erbil-Iraq. Speeches and discussions were done by distinguished academicians in the field of quantum mechanics. On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to thank all presenters and participants, and Tishk International University for continuous dedication and support.

Participants: Around 50 people participated in the Symposium in person

Date and time: May 18, 2023, at 13:30 PM
Place: TIU, Education building, hall (302)

Session topics:
1- Particles of light
2- Waves of matter

Presenters names and affiliations:

1- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azeez Abdullah Barzinjy, Soran University, Tishk International University-Erbil
2- Prof. Dr. Samir Mustafa Hamad, Soran Research Center, Soran University- Erbil
3- Dr. Amir Abdulrahman Ahmed, Adviser of Scientific Research in MHE
4- Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Jawdat Abdullah, Salahaddin University-Erbil
