April 14, 2025
Faculty: Pharmacy
Department: Pharmacy
Type of the workshop: International workshop

The workshop in brief:
Cancer kills one out of every six people worldwide and affects the majority of households. In 2022, 20 million individuals developed cancer, with 9.7 million dying. Cancer will increase by 77% by 2050, putting a pressure on health-care systems and local communities. Nearly 788,000 WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region individuals were diagnosed with cancer in 2022. Population growth, and, more crucially, the Region’s high rates of cancer risk factors such as tobacco use, obesity/overweight, physical inactivity, poor diets, and air pollution, are expected to triple to 1.57 million by 2045. Hepatitis B and C, as well as uterine HPV, can lead to cancer. Although immunizations prevent hepatitis B and HPV, both are prevalent in the Eastern Mediterranean. Breast, lung, colon, rectal, and prostate cancer are the most common cancers worldwide. Lung cancer claimed the most lives globally in 2020, but breast cancer was the most common. The most common and effective screening tests include mammography, colonoscopy, and Pap smear. Consult your family doctor about screenings. The 2025 World Cancer Day “UNITED BY UNIQUE” campaign puts patients first. We have comparable goals but differing needs. The World Cancer Day tagline is heard around the world, both before and on February 4, 2025. The 7th International Pharmacy Workshop (7th IPW) – 2025 brainstorming scientific sessions will focus on new research and anticancer medicinal therapies.
