The workshop covered one of the important operational parts of drilling oil/gas wells. In the first session, the presenter talked about the common problems encountered while drilling. In the second session, the methods and techniques to mitigate or prevent such drilling problems were presented. The presentation ended with some local field examples in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The objective of the workshop was to cover both, the common problems of drilling oil/gas wells and engineering solutions to overcome those problems. The presentation was enriched with real field examples of oil/gas wells drilled in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Participants: Online during the 7th IEC conference and 17 online and 14 physical audiences in Room 202
Place: Online with the physical audience in Room 202, Tishk International University, Erbil.
- First session: Common encountered problems during drilling oil/gas wells.
- Second session: Techniques or methods to mitigate or prevent the common drilling problems.
- Third session: Three real field cases from Kurdistan oil fields were presented.
The presenter (Mr. Soran Mohammed Ali) has several years’ experiences in oil sector and held different positions in oil companies in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Currently, he is working at the TAQA ATRUSH B. V. company as senior engineer. Among his activities is supervising the training courses and sessions for well control simulation for petroleum engineers, which is planned to cover our 4th year students for this year (soon future) in cooperation with Entrac Company (England).
The learning outcomes of this workshop for the participants is to be aware of the most common problems and difficulties which take place during the drilling of oil/gas wells in Kurdistan region and to be acquainted with the best solutions and remedies to such problems.
The workshop had been announced with the same announcement date of the activities of IEC conference and was one of the activities of the conference.
