Type of the workshop: National workshop
The workshop in brief:

The COVID-19 pandemic hit the Kurdistan Region and the world unexpectedly. While the Kurdistan Region was suffering from a financial situation, the educational sector was particularly challenged due to the lack in the necessary infrastructure to respond to the educational repercussions of the pandemic. There have been government policies and initiatives to raise the standards of the infrastructure in educational institutions, such as integrating e-learning and utilizing new technologies in the educational processes. The government response to the pandemic showed the need to diverge from traditional laws and policies and the urgency to realize those initiatives. In this workshop, we discuss the educational challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about in the Kurdistan Region and look into the ways that these challenges can be considered opportunities for development of the educational sector. We bring together different voices and experiences in order to create an opportunity for dialogue among teachers, students, parents and policymakers.

The workshop was attended by 60 staff (from TIU and Koya University).
