The workshop in brief: A dental implant is a surgical fixture that is placed into the jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone over the span of a few months. The dental implant acts as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. In turn, this “artificial tooth root” serves to hold a replacement tooth or bridge
Objectives
- To enable the participants to identify the indications and contraindications of dental implant.
- To enable the participants to understand how to do the dental implant surgery.
- To enable the participants to understand how to get the desired result by the end of the procedure.
- To enable the participants to understand how to avoid the complications of the dental implant.
- To enable the participants to debate clinical case.
Participants: 100 participants from academic staff, alumni and students of the Faculty of Dentistry-TIU participated in the workshop

Outcome of the workshop:
The workshop simplified the principles of surgical bone preparation for putting a dental implant followed by the prosthetic part placement, in addition to discussing the indications, local and systemic contraindications of dental implant along with tips and tricks to get a successful result.
