The workshop in brief: Other information about the Event:
Session 1: Jurisprudence of Money in islam the conception of money in classical Islamic law, specifically the relationship between scholarly discourses on money and actual economic practice. I shall argue that the theoretical concept of money was to some extent a fiction. Muslim jurists conceived of money in terms of a three-tier currency system that involved gold dinars, silver dirhams and copper fouls. The market was much more complex. A wide range of coins of various metallic content, weight and value circulated. In the first part of the Presentation describe the complexity of Islamic money markets. In the second part, I investigate how scholars reacted to the gap between theory and practice and posit some tentative conclusions about the relationship between Islamic law and practice.
Session 2: Environment pollution from Islamic perspective Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) always practiced and taught conservation of water. Once he passed by a companion Sa’d ibn abi Waqas and said, “Do not waste water while performing wudhu even if you are at a flowing river”. Islam is focused on life; be it personal, social, commercial, environmental, or spiritual. Universe is discussed in the holy Quran, be it sun or stars, cosmos or earth, flora and fauna, food chain, water cycle and ecological balance. Islam emphasized sustainability, prohibited wastage of resources and excessive use. This is evident in the verse : “And eat and drink, but be not excessive indeed,
Session 3: Poem the birth of prophet Mohammed (PBUH)
