National Symposium: 7th Excellent Paper Symposium

6th National Workshop On “Innovative Teaching Skills in Physics”
January 20, 2025
Identity From a Linguistic and Sociological Perspective
January 20, 2025
Faculty:Education
Department: Mathematics Education
Type of the workshop: National workshop

The workshop in brief: Scientific research serves as the cornerstone of advancements in knowledge and science. Indeed, without research, the progression of science would stall. Research has evolved and matured throughout human history, especially in the 21st century where it has reached unparalleled heights in developed nations.
Regrettably, developing countries have not kept pace, often overshadowing scientific research and innovation. Iraq is a case in point of this lag. The reasons for such stagnation are manifold, with a notable factor being the lack of encouragement for researchers.

It is imperative that we adopt concerted measures to spur research, offering both tangible and intangible support. This responsibility falls on everyone—from governmental to non-governmental entities, from parliamentary bodies to individuals.

Recognizing and rewarding researchers can serve as a catalyst for encouragement and, in doing so, spotlight the contributions of Iraqi researchers on a global stage. Over the past six years, we have
orchestrated six academic symposiums, drawing participants from across Iraq. Coupled with numerous awards, these initiatives have been met with considerable enthusiasm and acclaim within academic circles.

Project Overview and Agenda:
The symposium is organized into two main sessions:

Award Ceremony:
This session is devoted to recognizing and honoring the authors of exceptional papers. The authors of the top ten papers, the most active female researcher, and the youngest researcher will be invited to the stage for acknowledgment and accolades.
Panel Discussion:
Following the award ceremony, this session will spotlight brief presentations from the award recipients. The discussion will then transition into a dialogue focusing on research publication.

Paper ranking:
The paper ranking process will commence on January 1, 2024. Initially, we will gather all relevant published papers. To be eligible for consideration, a paper must have been published in 2023 and bear an Iraqi affiliation. The ranking will be based on the SNAPR criteria, the latest and the most updated version to be used. Further details can be found at the SNAPR link [Paper ranking; a strategy to embed research culture in developing countries – ScienceDirect]

Project’s Main Objective:
Promote collaboration and encouragement among Iraqi researchers.

Direct Benefits:
It encompasses all researchers in Iraq.

Indirect Benefits:
Benefits extend to the entire Iraqi population.

Participants: Approximately 500 people
