December 3rd, the International Relations and Diplomacy Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a National Workshop on Combating Drugs.The workshop began with an opening remark by the moderator, Mr. Bayad Sarwar Abdullah, who introduced the distinguished speakers as Brigadier Dr. Shwan Arab Sadiq, Director of Erbil Police and Colonel Hakim Omer Rahman, Director of Erbil Social Police. Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa, Head of the IRD Department, delivered the welcome address.

Participants: 50 PARTICIPANTS, students, lectures, Head of the department, and lecturers from education building.

Session topics: 
• The first speaker, Brigadier Dr. Shwan Arab Sadiq explained the role of the police in crime prevention, detection and punishment. He blamed conflict of interest and peers’ influence as being responsible for certain crimes, including drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of creation of awareness of what constitutes a crime and what the law states as the punishment for such
• The second speaker, Colonel Hakim Omer Rahman took the participants through the role of the police in combating drugs in Kurdistan Region. He also emphasized the need for crime prevention through enlightenment campaigns on the dangers of drugs and drug abuse, and the need to desist from such harmful act
