On 6 June 2021, Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a workshop on required skills embedded with learning process in civil engineering department. The workshop aimed to make the program of civil engineering to enhance the employability of student and equip them with required knowledge and skills for a career in the industrial or academic sectors. The workshop included the following sessions:

1st session:

  • Required skills and training
  • Industry based learning
  • Curriculum with real-life experience
  • State – of – the – art software training
  • What are the employability skills?

2nd session:

  • Fundamental skills
  • Personal management skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Student’s performance radar
  • Build students’ performance skills
  • Actions to take

The workshop was presented by Dr. Jawdat Tashan, PhD, Peng Associate Professor, Dean of Academic Affairs, Metro College of Technology 789 Don Mills Rd #500, Toronto, Canada. And it was attended by 32 professors, lecturers and research assistants of engineering faculty at TIU and Noble Institute. The workshop enabled the audience How the civil engineering academic program should equip students with the required knowledge and skills for a career in the industrial or academic sectors, How to make students more employable and able to provide immediate input and contribution to their future employer’s business and What are the employability skills and how to build them.

Participants: 32 Participants.
