The workshop in brief: World Diabetes Day, celebrated annually, aims to raise awareness about diabetes, its prevention, and the importance of managing this chronic condition effectively. The day serves as a platform to educate individuals, policymakers, and healthcare professionals about the global impact of diabetes and promote initiatives aligned with better healthcare and lifestyle choices.

Session 1_ Dr. Shayda talked about the prevalence of Diabetes in Kurdistan & Iraq region. She emphasized on the effects of Hyperglycemia and how it leads to the Diabetic complications. Dr. Shayda also mentioned several health habits that patients could acquire to maintain their disease and prevent the development of the complications.
Session 2_ Asst. Prof. Dr. Ramiar emphasized the effect of hyperglycemia on autophagy and other immune cells and how hyperglycemia-induced inflammation causes the development of several complications. Lastly, he explained several ways that patients can take advantage of to improve their health, including maintaining healthy gut microbiota.

Speaker 2: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ramiar Kamal Kheder, an Assistant professor in Infection, Immunity and Inflammation.

The workshop organized on World Diabetes Day at Tishk International University yielded significant outcomes:
