The workshop in brief: The International Relations and Diplomacy Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University organised a National Workshop on Kurdish Flag Day, held on December 15th, 2022. The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Arman Mohamad Majed, the President of the National Construction and Development Foundation. The host, Mr. Firsat Shakur Omer, then called on the first distinguished speaker, Mr. Ghafur Makhmuri, to deliver his speech. Mr. Makhmuri explained in detail the history of Kurdistan, the efforts of the Kurds, the state of political parties and dynamics of Kurdish politics, and the need for unity between the political parties for the stability and development of the region.

Session topics: 
1. Institutionalizing the state apparatus.
2. Giving back the actual role of Government and stopping the interference of political parties.
3. Establishing an advisory board for the region, consisting of specialists from different fields and political parties. 4. Stopping political parties’ representatives abroad in order to enhance the diplomatic missions from the region. 5. The IRD Department should undertake scientific research, addressing reasons behind the lack of loyalty by the youth to the nation.

Outcome of the workshop:
The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Arman Mohamad Majed, the President of the National Construction and Development Foundation. The host, Mr. Firsat Shakur Omer, then called on the first distinguished speaker, Mr. Ghafur Makhmuri, to deliver his speech. Mr. Makhmuri explained in detail the history of Kurdistan, the efforts of the Kurds, the state of political parties and dynamics of Kurdish politics, and the need for unity between the political parties for the stability and development of the region. The second distinguished speaker, Dr. Nawzad Mohammad Aziz, took the audience through the history of the Kurdistan Flag and how it evolved over the years, and its strategic meaning and relevance to the Kurdish people, cause and identity. Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa (Head of the IRD Department) served as the moderator and made valuable contributions that enriched the workshop. Furthermore, Ms. Sheren Amedy, a member of the PDK, also delivered a brief speech explaining the efforts made to protect and promote the Kurdish history, flag and cause. The following recommendations were made: Institutionalizing the state apparatus. Giving back the actual role of Government and stopping the interference of political parties.
