The workshop in brief:

The International Workshop on Teaching and Learning of Mathematics was successfully conducted to promote equity and inclusion in senior high school mathematics education in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). The workshop brought together mathematics educators, teacher trainers, and education professionals to share insights and discuss effective strategies for preparing teachers for equitable, inclusive, and workforce-responsive teaching. Through keynote presentations and professional discussions, participants explored contemporary challenges and practical solutions in mathematics and physics teacher education, fostering professional collaboration and contributing to the enhancement of teaching quality and inclusive educational practices.

Objectives: 

  1. Promote Awareness of Equity and Inclusion: To raise awareness among educators and researchers about the importance of equity and inclusion in mathematics education, particularly at the university level.
  2. Foster Collaboration Among Stakeholders: To provide a platform for collaboration among mathematicians, educators, and students to address challenges and opportunities in promoting equity in higher education.

Outcome of the workshop:

Participants enhanced their knowledge and awareness of equitable and inclusive teaching practices for senior high school mathematics, with a particular emphasis on improving learning opportunities for diverse student populations.

Participants gained practical insights into teacher preparation and professional development strategies, including approaches for equipping pre-service teachers with the pedagogical skills needed to address contemporary challenges in mathematics and physics education.

The workshop strengthened collaboration and professional networking among university faculty, school educators, and education stakeholders, fostering the exchange of ideas and best practices in mathematics education.

The workshop contributed to the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by supporting continuous teacher professional development and encouraging the adoption of inclusive, learner-centered teaching practices.
