The workshop in brief:

The Physiotherapy Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Law at Tishk International University, organized a National Workshop on Disability Awareness and Inclusion on 10 December 2025 in observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Held at the Education Building, Hall 302, the workshop brought together academics, students, and invited participants to explore disability from healthcare, social, and legal perspectives. Distinguished speakers addressed key topics related to disability conceptualization, healthcare implications, and legal protections, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in promoting inclusion and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities.

 

Objectives:

§  To raise awareness and improve understanding of disability using a rights-based and inclusive approach

§  To explore the healthcare, social, and legal dimensions of disability

§  To highlight the role of physiotherapy in supporting persons with disabilities

§  To examine national and international legal frameworks protecting disability rights

§  To promote interdisciplinary collaboration between physiotherapy and law

§  To encourage inclusive education, advocacy, and community engagement

Expected attendees: 75

Participants included TIU principal officers, deans, heads of departments, academic staff, physiotherapy and law students, and invited outside guests.
