The workshop in brief:
An international workshop was jointly organized by the Physiotherapy Departments of Tishk International University (TIU) and Hawler Medical University (HMU) on September 8, 2025, in celebration of World Physiotherapy Day 2025. Hosted at TIU, the workshop focused on “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in Healthy Ageing.”
The event brought together academic experts, faculty members, and students to discuss evidence-based physiotherapy interventions that promote mobility, muscle strength, functional independence, and overall well-being in older adults. Keynote presentations highlighted the critical role of physical activity and rehabilitation in preventing age-related functional decline and supporting healthy ageing.
Objectives:
- To highlight the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in promoting healthy ageing
- To increase awareness of age-related mobility and muscle strength preservation
- To present evidence-based strategies for preventing functional decline in older adults
- To encourage active and independent lifestyles among ageing populations
- To strengthen academic collaboration and professional exchange between TIU and HMU

Expected attendees: 70
Participants included TIU principal officers, deans, heads of departments, academic staff, physiotherapy students, outside guests, and members of the public.
